PUBG Mobile Starts Limiting Playing Time For Health

The criticism of the Indian government for the Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) online game Mobile is addictive, making the game developers make special features to reduce the number of addictions to this game.

Tencent as the developer and owner of PUBG Mobile, released a feature that can limit playing time.

This feature is known to have been tested since March 21 in India.

Players report that they get a warning message regarding playing time when logging in to their respective accounts.

The message will appear when the player has played PUBG Mobile for 6 hours, on the same day.

The PUBG game is one of the virtual games played on war-themed smartphones.

This game is played between users on a network (online)

If the player has passed the deadline, then he can only re-login the next day.

According to Tencent, this feature is deliberately made so that PUBG Mobile can still be played in a healthy and responsible manner.

Tencent also acknowledged that this feature was released because of the discourse of blocking PUBG Mobile in India.

PUBG Mobile Starts Limiting Playing Time For Health

"We are introducing a healthy gameplay system in India to promote balanced and responsible games, including limiting playing time for underage players," Tencent said through his official statement.

"We were therefore surprised to learn that local authorities in several cities have decided to impose a ban on playing our games," they continued.

Tencent said that they would try to have a dialogue with the local government so that the discourse on the ban on PUBG Mobile was canceled.

A number of people judge that there is an element of radicalism played in this game.

The PUBG game reaped controversy after the community considered the game could trigger radicalism because of practicing war and murder.

The genre of battle royale is called similar to the action of shooters at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Digital Key Features in China

Previously, Tencent had also developed a feature that could be used by parents to prevent children from being addicted to playing games.

This feature called "digital key" will later be able to lock the video game so that it cannot be played carelessly by players under the age of 13.

According to Tencent, the development of this feature is part of the government's crackdown to prevent young people in China from becoming addicted to playing games.

Last year, the Chinese government gave restrictions on several game titles and imposed rules on underage players to reduce their playing time.

Later, this "digital key" feature can only be opened by the player's parents. Reportedly this restriction will be tested in the Chinese version of the PUBG Mobile game and Honor of Kings.

Quoted by KompasTekno from Digit.in, Monday (03/04/2019), the limitation for the PUBG Mobile game is not only applied in China.

In some other countries, PUBG Mobile is also considered to have a negative effect and so its use is supervised by the local government.

In India, the government also banned this game because it was considered to be addictive.

Even in India, this game is considered to cause big problems for children and affect their learning process.

Then in another incident, a 19-year-old boy hanged himself because his family refused to buy a cellphone to play PUBG Mobile.

So this game is considered to have a negative impact on its users.

PUBG Mobile itself is currently one of the rising games.

The battle-Royale genre game is played by 30 million active players every day.
